Chepang Hill Trail
The Chepang Hill Trail a part of national development effort to empower poor, rural communities through the promotion of Eco-Tourism. The driving principle behind this effort is that tourism can be introduced into new areas in such a way so as to improve the socio-economic standing of local communities while conserving the environment and avoiding common pitfalls of tourism expansion. What this development philosophy attempts to achieve with the Chepang Hill –Siraichuli Trek, is a small – scale eco-tourism destination with an emphasis on use of local peoples, home stays, minimal environmental impact/resource consumption, and integration with the indigenous inhabitants. The Chepang Hill Trail offers visitors an experience unique from the more heavily trafficked trekking routes of Nepal, as it has been spared from the often haphazard and negative development of other regions. This unspoiled area offer a clear view of what life in Nepal’s hills was like before the waves of modernization and western influences. The people you will meet there live a lifestyle that follows both the traditions of their nomadic roots, along with basic systems of agriculture and animal husbandry. The chance to see such a primal culture in the modern era is increasingly rare, espedially when it includes an exciting new trekking routes. The Chepang Hill Trail-Siraichuli Trek is therefore ideal for tourists who want to experience the beautiful and natural landscape of the Mahabharat Range combined with glimpses into a fascinating and well-preserved, indigenous culture.
