Langtang Valley is a beautiful valley that lies north of Kathmandu close
to Tibetan-border. It is sandwiched between the main Himalayan range to the
north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks* to the south.Langtang
valley trekking offers an opportunity to explore ethnic villages belonging
to Tamang and Sherpa community, climb small peaks at low elevations and
visit glaciers.
Trekking to Langtang valley begins with overland drive from Kathmandu
along Trishuli river up to Syabrubensi, a large Tamang settlement. The next
day morning the trek begins passing through fir and rhododendron forests,
river gorge, local villages, Yak cheese factory and ultimately reaching the
most beautiful Langtang valley. From this valley, you can view a
panoramic sight of the Langtang range of mountain in a clear weather. The
highlight of this trekking is to explore the Langtang Valley, Kyangin Gompa
and the Lirung Glacier. You can also climb the Langshisa Peak and visit
Lake Gosainkunda, which is nearby.
Langtang valley trekking is not much difficult although very fewer tourists
trek to the valley. Apart from the spectacular mountain scenery, it also
provides an opportunity to explore the traditional lifestyle and culture of
the Tamang people, whose craftsmanship, language, dress and houses bear
uniqueness. The Langtang Valley trekking route goes through traditional,
ethnic villages and untouched forests on the way to the peaks of
Langtang-Lirung.
