Highlights

If you are looking to camp, hike and spend your holidays in Nepal's off the beaten tract, Rara Lake Trekking has something to offer for everyone.
Spend some days on trekking  in the remote Karnali zone in the north - west of Nepal nearby Gam Ghadi (district-headquarter of Mugu) and Talcha airstrip walking through the scenic and serene camping route via the high mountains made - up of long ridges covered with temperate forests, alpine pastures and high valleys is  truly rewarding. Trekking to Rara Lake is a wonderful experience for every nature lover, plant researcher and bird watcher. Rara, Nepal’s smallest protected area declared in 1975 as National Park is also one of the highlights of  Rara Lake Trekking. The entire trekking route is off the beaten track which involves the crossing of Daphe Lagna 3691m and Ghurchi Lagna3480m high passes on the way to Rara Lake and a few ridges at around 3000 meters.
Here, summer rainfall is low, but winter snow can be heavy and persistent. Since the region is fairly high and free from monsoon thunder - storms, the summer season is ideal for trekking. Winter is cold, but in the autumn season, trekking is rewarded with a profusion of alpine flowers.
We begin the trek to Rara Lake from the mountain airstrip of Jumla after flying from Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. We follow the trail past  green countryside experiencing unusual culture, traditional lifestyle and natural scenery quite different from other parts of Nepal. The Rara National Park is known as the home to Himalayan Ghorals, Black bear and Red panda,
Rara Lake Trekking is like hiking into a Hemingway story; everything was sepia-toned and bristling with subtext as remarked by Leslie What.
