Upper Dolpo trekking is the challenging and adventurous trek in the remote and least developed region in the western partof Nepal. Upper Dolpo region which is bordered with Tibet and lies beyond the Dhaulagiri massif offers the pristine natural beauty. Upper Dolpo region was opened for foreign trekkers in 1989. This trekking region is categorized as the controlled / restricted tourism area by the government of Nepal and to trek in this region trekkers requires the special permit from the government. In this region trekkers find the serene beauty of the nature as well as the rich and unique culture of Bhotiyas, the major inhabitants of this region. The people of this region follow the pre Buddhist Bon Po religion and their culture is similar to that of the Tibetan people.
